The curious case of Benjamin Button
Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchette were doing really great. Even their ages in the film was ranging from teenage to very until their lives ended. Or "to very beginning" I could say. This was a long and slow movie but never got me bored. Quality CG made it real. Very serious and a never happy ending story, nonetheless, funny, sweet and heart-warming. Kanta was so excited to see it because of his favorite producer, David Fincher, who had directed "Se7en" and "Fight Club" which Brad Pitt won awards with. And seems like he was enjoyed it.
Gran Trino
Two days in a row we went to the theater. It was the last day of 2008.
None of the casts were familiar to me and except for the leading man, they were all Asians from your neighbor kind actors and actresses. Their performance wasn't so good, however, it was good enough to make audience emotional. Hilarious as you can laugh to almost choke and yet heavy as you feel helpless.
Defiance
We've been waiting for this for weeks! It's about a Jewish community who were hiding in the forest from Germans to survive at the period of holocaust. The director, Edward Zwick, is famous for the movies "The Last Samurai" and "The Blood Diamond." I love both movies, so I had great expectation on it and it turned out to be more than great! I personally like historical war/fighting movies such as The Last Samurai, Gladiator, Troy, Braveheart, King Arther and so forth. In common, those heroes movies are all about small group beating big power with some knowledge and emotional bonds. It's very simple but it's always touching. Surviving is the very very basic idea of human beings and anything alive. Movies about surviving is appealing to our emotion, because that's the natural instinct everyone has.
